A Parlay is a very tempting, yet dangerous trap that unfortunately too many players fall into. A Parlay generally pays out the following odds (assuming all teams in the parlay are -110):
2 Team Parlay 2.6 to 1 (Bet $10 win $26; Bet $100 win $260)
3 Team Parlay 6 to 1 (Bet $10 win $60; Bet $100 win $600)
4 Team Parlay 12 to 1 (Bet $10 win $120; Bet $100 win $1200)
5 Team Parlay 24 to 1 (Bet $10 win $240; Bet $100 win $2400)
6 Team Parlay 45 to 1 (Bet $10 win $450; Bet $100 win $4500)
7 Team Parlay 80 to 1 (Bet $10 win $800; Bet $100 win $8000)
8 Team Parlay 150 to 1 (Bet $10 win $1500; Bet $100 win $15000)
Player A: has a winning percentage of 54% and makes 100 bets. Assume he wins the first 54 and loses the next 46. Each bet is -110. After the first 54 he is up $4,909.14.
After he loses 46 (-$4,600) he has a net profit of $309.14 after 100 games.
Player B has a winning percentage of 60% and plays 100 parlays (all are 2 team parlays paying 2.6:1). Please realize that he is not going to win 60% of his parlays, he is going to win 60% of 200 games (2 games for 100 parlays). In other words he will be 2-0 on twenty seven parlays out of 100, 1-1 on 66 parlays out of 100 and 0-2 in 7 parlays out of houndred, making him 120-80 out of 200 games or 60%. However he would only be 27-73 on all of his parlays. Every parlay pays $260 for his $100 bet. Assume he won the first 26, he would be up $7,080 . He then loses the next 73 parlays (-7300), netting him a loss of -$280.00 Thus even though he is a better handicapper (60%), he loses money. Had this same better just bet each game sraight he would be in the postive $2,908.
Player A
Player B
PARLAYS
Let's Analyze two Players: Player A and Player B.
Player A bets $100 per play and only bets straight plays.
Player B bets $100 per play and only bets 2 team parlays.
Assume that Player A wins 54% of his plays and Player B wins 60% of his plays.
Player B is obviously a much better handicapper of sports.
Both players make 100 bets.
